Radio discipline revolves around Push-To-Talk (PTT). Simply hold down the on-screen PTT button or press and hold the Spacebar or Key T on your physical keyboard to broadcast. When you release the key, the radio automatically broadcasts a squelch tail burst and authentic Roger beep to notify listening stations that you are clear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I talk between two browser tabs or devices?

Yes! The tool uses HTML5 BroadcastChannel. Open the tool in two separate browser tabs or windows, tune both to the same channel, and press PTT in one tab to hear your voice and Roger beep transmitted into the other tab in real time.

How do I use the keyboard to talk (PTT)?

Press and hold either the Spacebar or the "T" key on your keyboard to transmit. Release the key to finish speaking and send the Roger beep. You can also use Up/Down arrow keys to change channels.

What are the Roger beeps?

Roger beeps are short acoustic tones transmitted at the end of a transmission to signal that the operator has finished speaking. You can choose between the Classic Motorola beep, NASA Quindar tones used in Apollo moon missions, or modern tactical double beeps.

Is my microphone audio sent to a remote server?

No. All audio DSP filtering and Roger beep synthesis occur locally inside your web browser via the Web Audio API. Your voice is not recorded or stored on any external server.

How do private channels with CTCSS work?

CTCSS (Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System) acts as a sub-channel privacy filter. Only devices tuned to both the identical main frequency and matching sub-tone (1 to 38) will un-mute and hear each other.
